As a second-time mom, I’ve learned a lot about what works for us and what doesn’t when it comes to newborn gear. This time around, I’ve streamlined our essentials to a handful of items that make life easier and keep our days running smoothly. Whether you’re a new mom or looking to refine your setup for baby number two (or beyond), here are the items we use daily with our newborn:
Also, check out my post on all items I’m reusing or repurchasing for baby #2.

1. Snuggle Me Organic Lounger
This cozy lounger is perfect for supervised naps and a safe spot to place your baby while you get things done. It mimics the feeling of being held, which keeps our little one calm and snug. It’s been a lifesaver during those moments when I need a quick break or some hands-free time. Having a lounger like this in different rooms is especially crucial when juggling a toddler, as it gives me a safe and convenient place to set the baby down no matter where I am. Snuggle me is my preference over DockATot due to the organic materials they use.

2. Baby Björn Bouncer
The Baby Björn Bouncer is a multitasking marvel. Its ergonomic design supports the baby’s head and body while giving them a comfy seat to lounge, bounce, or play. The natural bouncing motion helps soothe fussiness, and it’s lightweight enough to move from room to room as needed. This is another must-have when managing multiple kids—I highly recommend having a “container” for the baby in every room to make life easier and safer.

3. Elvie Pump
Exclusively pumping has been a game-changer for me (check out my dedicated post on exclusive pumping!). The Elvie Pump makes the process so much more efficient. It’s the most high-powered of all wearable pumps, ensuring that I can maintain my supply even after transitioning from a hospital-grade pump. Plus, it’s wearable, quiet, and allows me to multitask—an absolute must with a toddler running around.
Also love wearable collection cups – I actually wear overnight with a quality pumping bra to help increase my stash. More on this in my Exclusive Pumping post!

4. High-Power Humidifier
A good humidifier is critical, especially during the winter months when the air gets dry. This time, I opted for a less expensive humidifier, and honestly, it’s way more high-powered than some of the pricier options. Don’t get me wrong—I love the Canopy humidifier for being mold-free and beautifully designed, but if your little one is sniffly, this high-powered option has been a GAME CHANGER. It keeps the baby’s nasal passages moist and helps reduce congestion, ensuring better sleep for everyone. We run ours nightly to maintain optimal humidity levels. Try a clean, good quality eucalyptus essential oil in a steam shower too!

5. Rechargeable Touch Night Light
Night feedings and diaper changes are so much easier with a portable touch night light. Ours is rechargeable and adjustable, so I can move it around the room without waking the baby (or myself) up too much. It’s so much more mellow than a traditional lamp, and it even changes colors if you prefer a red light to keep things calm. It’s one of those small but impactful items that makes a big difference.

6. Gripe Water & Infant Probiotic Drops
For those inevitable gassy or fussy moments, gripe water and infant probiotic drops are our go-to remedies.
Gripe water is made from all-natural ingredients and helps soothe tummy troubles, reduce hiccups, and ease fussiness.
Infant probiotic drops support gut health during the early stages of life when the digestive system is still developing. They’ve made a noticeable difference in reducing discomfort and helping our baby feel more settled.

7. Hatch Rest Sound Machine
A quality sound machine is an absolute must. We’ve been using the Hatch since our first baby, and it’s still a favorite. It doubles as a nightlight and has customizable sound settings that help create a soothing sleep environment. We’ll probably use it well into toddlerhood again! This has been exponentially better than some others I’ve tried.

8. Formula Pro
This time, we introduced the Formula Pro from the get-go for nighttime feedings, and it’s been a total game-changer. Unlike last time when we waited until transitioning to formula at six months, using it earlier has given us longer sleep stretches at night. The Formula Pro prepares a bottle in about 10 seconds, and our baby can finish a feeding in 10 minutes—much quicker than a 45-minute breastfeed session. It’s especially helpful during those foggy, middle-of-the-night moments.
Use code KEE15OFF for a discount on your purchase! Also loving the 10 minute sterilizer this time around.

9. Baby Carrier
I have the Artipoppe carrier, the Baby Björn, and the new Bumpsuit carrier, and I love all three for different reasons. Honestly, I didn’t use a carrier much with my first baby except for walks or social outings where a stroller wasn’t practical. But with baby number two, I think having a baby carrier is absolutely imperative. It frees up both hands to help with my toddler while still keeping the baby close and content. The closeness is also comforting for the baby, making it a win-win.

10. Nighttime Diaper Insert Pads
We’ve also started using nighttime diaper insert pads, like Sposie, and they’ve been a huge help in keeping our baby drier for longer stretches of sleep. These inserts wick away moisture, ensuring the baby stays comfortable throughout the night—and helping everyone get a bit more rest. Highly recommend giving them a try if nighttime leaks are disrupting sleep!
Final Thoughts
These daily essentials have helped us maintain a smoother routine and less stress during the newborn phase. Each item brings its own unique benefits, and together, they’ve made juggling life with two kids much more manageable. If you’re navigating this stage, I hope these recommendations can bring some ease and comfort to your journey too!
