If you want a treat that feels indulgent but doesn’t send you straight into a sugar crash… these homemade chocolate peanut butter cups are it. They taste like the classic candy we all grew up with, but they’re made with clean, simple ingredients — no refined sugar, no weird fillers, and no guilt.
This is one of my go-to sweet treats during the holidays, especially around Halloween when candy is everywhere. They’re perfectly sweet, a little salty, and rich enough to satisfy that late-night chocolate craving — all while being made in less than 15 minutes.
These store beautifully in the fridge (or freezer), so they’re also an easy make-ahead dessert for parties, gifting, or when you just want something you can grab after dinner.
🧁 Ingredients (makes 12 cups)
- 2 cups clean-ingredient dark chocolate chips (Just Date, Hu, Lily’s, or any no-sugar brand you love)
- 1 tsp melted coconut oil or avocado oil
- ¼ cup creamy natural peanut butter (just peanuts + salt!)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp date syrup or pure maple syrup
- Sprinkle of flakey sea salt
- Cupcake or mini muffin liners
You can halve the recipe and use a mini muffin tin for bite-sized cups.
🍯 Directions
- Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20–30 second increments, stirring in between, until smooth. Add coconut oil and stir until glossy.
- In a separate bowl, mix peanut butter, vanilla, syrup, and a small pinch of salt until creamy.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate into each liner, covering the bottom completely. Freeze for 5 minutes.
- Add ½–1 tablespoon of the peanut butter mixture to each cup.
- Pour the remaining chocolate over the top, covering the filling fully. Sprinkle with flakey sea salt.
- Freeze for 5–10 more minutes, then remove liners and enjoy.
👉 Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
