Some of these may be unpopular opinions, let me explain ⬇️

SAVE

Meditations – there are SO many free ones on YouTube and Spotify. Don’t feel pressured to pay for a membership or app.

Greens powders – unless you’re treating your body like absolute trash, most of these are completely unnecessary. You’re better off paying for hormone testing, allergy and sensitivity testing and then tailoring your diet and supplement routine to fit YOUR specific needs.

Fancy gym membership / overpriced workout classes – you can build muscle and get cardio in from either the comfort of your own home with weights and bands, talking a walk or run outside for free, or paying for an inexpensive membership at places like golds or planet fitness. I like the macros with em fitness app too – it’s $20/month and you get 5 workouts per week, same split for 4 weeks in a row. This focuses on progressive overload aka going up in weights or reps week over week, which builds muscle. You can do these at home or the gym.

Rugs and home decor – rugs tend to have to be replaced often and basic home decor can be found even second hand at places like goodwill, or discount stores like home goods. Ex: rug I got recently was SUPER inexpensive for our upstairs living area and I love this website.

Fast trendy fashion – besides staples, no need to break the bank. Always check your closet first to see what you can rewear!

Kids clothes – they grow out WAY too fast to splurge here. See my inexpensive picks on my Amazon storefront.

SPLURGE

Quality therapist and EMDR – quality doesn’t HAVE to mean expensive. Can still find quality through insurance! Tips on finding a therapist here.

Hormone testing – if you don’t know where you’re at it is VERY hard to know where you’re going. This has been life changing for me to tailor my diet and lifestyle to MY BODY. I went to The Spring, my naturopath in the Austin area.

Specific skincare like quality vitamin C and retinol makes a HUGE difference.

Quality organic non toxic underwear – treated without toxic chemicals which have been linked to cancer!

Bonus: neither save nor splurge – switching to clean cleaning products at home! Can do most of this simply with vinegar and baking soda. Check out my cleaning challenge where I have DIY non toxic mixtures for anything you’d need to clean in your home.
