Barre focuses on small, pulsing movements that are incorporated from ballet. The exercise is typically in a room where ballet barres line the walls and the class uses resistance bands, yoga straps, exercise balls, and hand weights. Yoga and Pilates moves are also in the mix.

Most studios require you to wear grip socks—buy some before you go, they can be $15-20/pair in the studios.

Below are our favorite Barre studios in Austin.

This place is super technical with their form. They will correct you a lot when you first start going but you will get a killer workout and be super sore (and toned).

This is a very popular, nationwide studio. Barre3 is very much an aerobic class, with swift movements, upbeat music, and non-stop movement leading to an extremely tiring workout! They also offer childcare in their Play Lounge.
